HOW I BECAME A COACH

I often get asked about how I got started in the coaching business. “What’s your coaching story?” they would say. “How did you decide to become a coach?”

I originally thought my story began when I took on more and more coaching work in my last corporate assignment – because that’s when my passion for coaching really started kicking in. Then I realized that my coaching “personality” was in development long before that…

I was the pesky five year old who would constantly ask “Why?” (and was quick to adopt “Why not?” to my vocabulary for the moments when I would be told that something was not possible). By the time I was eight years old, I was ‘operating’ a travel agency in the basement of our family’s bungalow house (complete with a spinning globe, National Geographic magazines, and the brochures from every place I visited with my family during our summer vacations in Eastern Canada and the US). Two weeks later, my travel agency – a highly successful one by then - and I had the monopoly money in my register to prove it – would be turned into a classroom. MORE
